Beverly Hillbillies Themed Set Showcases Marvin Windows of the Future
By: Architectural Visions
The Next Cool Thing events were staged around 90,000 square feet of individual installations showcasing the area’s design/build talent and fine home products. Each installation featured a movie or TV show theme. AVI, together with industry design partners, created a 900 square foot set reimagining a Beverly Hillbillies mansion of the 21st century. The set included a custom spiral staircase, state of the art kitchen and bath, and Marvin French doors donated by AVI. In addition, AVI provided two of Marvin’s Ultimate Casement windows, which feature industry-leading innovation.
AVI Sales Consultant Heather Elsberry said, “Displaying the Marvin Ultimate Casement window was perfect. A mansion of the future should include the most innovative window in the industry.”
Bernie Smith’s MasterWorks Atlanta was the talented design/build firm that brought the Hillbillies-themed booth to life. Mr. Smith said, “Atlanta proudly showcased all of the high-quality products and services available to the film and television industry in this first ever Next Cool Thing Event. Our Hillbillies Mansion set was a hit!”
Attendance exceeded expectations, with 4,000 visitors at the Friday night Red Carpet event, 6,000 visitors at the invitation-only VIP Gala on Saturday night, and approximately 3,000 visitors during the daytime open houses.
AVI Sales Consultant Heather Elsberry recalled, “It was hard to walk through our 30’ x 30’ space at times because we had so many visitors. Our booth location encouraged visitors to stop by on their way in and again on their way out. Many visitors wanted a second look at our casement windows. And our backlit French door feature, which simulated a view of the Hillbillies’ ‘see-ment pond’ provided a great photo-op for our attendees.”
According to Margaret Norcott, of the American Society of Interior Designers, an AVI industry partner, “As a first ever event of its kind in Atlanta, The Next Cool Thing proved to be a wealth of potential business for the design and building industries as well!”
