Idea House Renovation: What You’ll See During the Upcoming Tour

By: Architectural Visions

If you’re browsing through Atlanta events for something to do this summer, check out the Idea House Renovation, a project of Southern Living Magazine. As the first renovation in the history of Idea House projects, this charming 19th century farmhouse was moved to a new location and completely remade to glorious beauty. Idea House tours began this month and will run through October and you can be one of 30,000 visitors who tour the home.

As a century old farmhouse, the designers and visionaries behind the renovation, preserved just enough of the old, and blended it with the new to give the house a comfortable, casual feel with up-to-the-minute amenities. Though the details of the home are hush hush until Southern Living Magazine publishes its photos, you can get a sneak peek at this website, the Idea House project’s blog.

The Idea House is located in Senoia, Ga, a short drive from the heart of Atlanta and well worth the travel. While this historic town is know for serene beauty, front porch hospitality, and exhibiting the essence of Southern grace, it’s also a somewhat colorful locale as many well-know films and television shows take advantage of the scenic charm.

If you happen to visit the Idea House Renovation and notice an unmowed lawn or the undead, don’t be frightened. They’re shooting scenes for the hit cable show The Walking Dead, and producers asked the town to let some of the landscaping in town get overgrown for “atmosphere.” While there, be sure to enjoy the boutique shopping and have a meal in one of the many famous eateries that have made Senoia a favorite destination.
